As one of the largest privately held in-vitro diagnostic manufacturers in the world, Nova Biomedical has more than 1,600 employees, four manufacturing sites, ten international subsidiaries, and one hundred international distributors. In addition, millions of patients are impacted by our products and our business operations. With this large economic, environmental, and social footprint, Nova recognizes the need to drive our business sustainably, to protect human rights for everyone connected to Nova Biomedical, and to minimize our environmental impact.

This Sustainability Policy serves as a guideline for Nova’s commitment to conduct a profitable, socially and environmentally responsible business today without compromising the future. We regularly review this policy as the business evolves, ensuring it continues to be in line with current best practices.

UN Global Contract

The UN Global Contract is the world’s largest and most important initiative for sustainable corporate governance. Nova is committed to conducting our business consistent with the internationally recognized principles in the UN Global Compact Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) concerning human rights, labor standards, environment protection, and corruption prevention.

Social Responsibility (People)

Nova’s ambition within the social area is to strive for a better society by acting as a responsible and respectful manufacturer and employer as well as contributing to social progress within the geographics we are operating. Our social responsibility is guided by these principles:

Nova Biomedical is dedicated to operating in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner. Our commitment to environmental sustainability extends to our customers, our suppliers, and our communities. We are committed to the following:

  • Compliance with all local, state, and federal requirements related to the environment.
  • Continuously reviewing organizational processes where the environmental impact can be minimized.
  • Effective management of power resources such as fuel, electricity, and water
  • Reduce the environmental impact caused by waste through reduction/reuse/ recycling programs.
  • Minimize the use of paper and other office consumables.
  • Use technologies such as video conferencing or teleconferencing whenever possible to reduce business travel.
  • Procure and produce materials that are recyclable, contain recyclable material, or will have a low impact on the environment.
  • Product designs that keep impact on the environment at the forefront throughout the design process.
  • Reduction of environmental hazards in order to promote the safety and health of our employees and neighbors around all facilities that we operate.
  • Being environmentally responsible regarding the fuel and resources related to the transportation of incoming raw materials and distribution of final products.
  • Conduct necessary assessments of new equipment so that they are energy efficient and use environmentally sustainable components to lessen environmental impact while in use.

  • Long-term profitability is sustained by delivering high-quality, value-added, healthcare and laboratory products that meet and exceed our customer’s standards of functionality, finances, and reliability.
  • We maintain ethical business practices, including honesty, integrity, and respectful treatment of individuals in all our business operations, at all levels of the company, and in all geographies.
  • We strictly adhere to external laws and regulations in all our geographies.
  • We will not participate in or support any form of bribery, corruption or fraudulent practices.
  • We identify potential risks to sustainability and derive effective measures to avoid or mitigate them.
  • We actively manage the sustainability of our supplier chain by sourcing preferentially with local small and medium-sized businesses.
  • We make our key suppliers aware of our sustainability policy and encourage them to adopt sustainable business practices.
  • We ensure that all staff are aware of our Sustainability Policy and embrace its principles.

Responsibilities

Sustainability is the responsibility of all employees, including senior management, executives, and members of the governing board. The President and CEO bear ultimate responsibility for the company’s operations, including sustainability. The CEO has delegated operational responsibility to Senior Management and Vice Presidents to ensure employees embrace the principles of this policy and contribute to our sustainability goals.
